National Security Dragging Feet On Fulani Issue – Kontihene

Following a recent spate of bloodshed and destruction between Fulani herdsmen and indigenes of Agogo in the Ashanti region, Kontihene for the Agogo traditional area in an interview with Rite news has lamented about the fact that it has taken national security so long to respond to the situation.

He lamented about the fact that no security personnel had been deployed to Agogo to quench the stoking fire at the time of speaking to Rite FM. He said this was against the fact that the Fulani and their cattle had taken over Agogo the Township.

He said it wasn’t so much about their presence but the fact that they posed a security threat as they were involved in the destruction of properties, killing and the rape of women. According to the Kontihene, the deeds of the Fulani had created a big fear among residents of Agogo.

He said this was what informed their press conference on Wednesday and that they wanted the government to come to their aid to help them deal with the menace since they can’t continue to destroy properties and killing people.

Nana Kwame Nti lamented that law abiding members of the community can’t even visit their farms all because the Fulani herdsmen have invaded the farms with their cattle.

An enraged Kontihene said the number of people so far killed by the Fulanis is 27 and has thus made a strong appeal to the government to come to their aid provide them with the needed security since the indigenes do not want to take the law into their own hands.

Media reports were rife about the fact that security personnel involving the police and military had been deployed in the Agogo Township in a bid to drive and flush out the nomads.
