The consequences of these have been massive destruction to properties including sections of the farming sector. The eastern region has not been spared of this development.

In the wake of this, Mr. Philip Okunnor, an official from the National Disaster Management Organization has been sympathizing with the Klo Akuapem community which has also largely suffered from this canker.

According to him, the cause of the fire in that community and probably elsewhere could be traced to farmers who engaged in early farming.

Mr. Okunnor also explained that have been around to take reports in the area and have noticed that most farmers in that farming community have shifted to the cultivation of cocoa. He noted though farmers who cultivated other crops would also be given due attention, their concentration will be more centered on the cocoa farmers to assist them take preventive measures to forestall any future fire outbreaks.
