Former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe has been appointed as Deputy General Seccretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in charge of Development and Competitions.
The 52-year old former Ghana defender was born in Germany to a Ghanaian diplomat.
Baffoe was capped 25 times for Ghana between 1991 and 1994, and was captain of the Black Stars for the final match of the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal against Cote d’Ivoire, which Ghana lost 11-10 on penalties
He started his club career in Germany with clubs such as FC Koln, Fortuna Dusseldorf before moving to France and Hong Kong before ending his career in 1999 with Venezuelan club Caracas FC.
After retirement ventured into television and event management and also launching a cause for the protection of the right of footballers in his native Ghana.
He is a holder of a CAF License ‘A’ Coaching Certificate and has attended various FIFA training programs in Administration, and doubles as a FIFA Instructor in Administration and Management.
Mr. Baffoe also serves General Coordinator for CAF and FIFA sanctioned tournaments such as the last FIFA World Cup grand finale at the Maracana stadium in Brazil.
CAF also Egyptian Amy Fahmy as the new General Secretary of the Confederation with Morocco’s Essadik Alaoui appointed Deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration and Finance.
In another related development, The Communications Director and a Deputy General Secretary of the GFA, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has been appointed to serve on the newly created CAF Team of Media Experts.
The 12-member Team of Media Experts will replace the Media Committee of the CAF
