Taiwan vows to boost agricultural output in B/Faso

Taiwan has vowed to boost Burkina’s agricultural output by strengthening research and development program aimed at improving the quality of the entrants and varieties, the ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation said on Thursday. According to the ministry, the two countries will in July implement an agreement of the vegetable-farming in Burkina Faso, through the Institute of Environment and Agricultural Research (INERA) and Taiwanese Research Agency for the promotion of vegetable-farming (AVRDC).

In Burkina Faso, which is 80 percent agro-pastoral vegetable-farming, plays a prominent role in boosting food security.

That’s why the Burkinabe government is putting in efforts to provide vegetable farmers with improved varieties in a bid to bolster their productivity.

“With this cooperation agreement between the two institutions, we will be able to grow off-season vegetable crops necessary in improving our food security while creating more job in the agricultural sectorâ€� the minister of Scientific Research, Jean Noà«l Pooda rejoiced.

AVRDC is an international research organization created in 1971 with a mission to increase social welfare, economic and cultural development in Sub-Saharan countries.
