Somanya: Pregnant Woman Stabs Boyfriend to Death

A 30 year old woman and resident of Ogome near Somanya in the Eastern region who reportedly stabbed her boyfriend to death, is currently receiving treatment at the Atua Government hospital under police guard.

Diana Tetteh, the culprit who was said to be three months pregnant at the time and a mother of two, stabbed the deceased, only identified as Kofi, 35 years in the chest during a brutal fight where the deceased allegedly assaulted her cruelly.

Somanya Police Commander, ASP Isaac Otsin who confirmed the incident to Rite news disclosed that the police received a distress call at 2:30 am Monday dawn that someone had been murdered at Ogome after which the police subsequently proceeded to the scene to investigate the incident.

According to ASP Otsin, he gathered that a misunderstanding between the couple led to the unfortunate incident.

Eyewitness accounts disclosed that the deceased, Kofi gave his girlfriend, Diana some money to prepare supper earlier on Sunday evening.

According to the reports, Kofi later returned, apparently to eat his supper only to realize that the food had not been prepared with Diana nowhere to be found.

The deceased, who later found his girlfriend returning late to the house, suspected her of engaging in an illegitimate affair with another man, a suspicion which led to the assault on the three-month-old pregnant woman.

During, the course of the severe assault, Diana who could no longer bear the assault, according to ASP Otsin ran to her room and locked the door but Kofi reportedly broke down the door and further attacked her.

During the course of the aggravated assault, Diana who could no longer bear the beatings, grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the chest.

The deceased was subsequently rushed to the St. Martin’s de Porres hospital at Agomanya but was pronounced dead on arrival with the body being kept at the morgue waiting autopsy.

Meanwhile, the culprit who suffered a miscarriage during the battering is currently receiving treatment at the Atua Government hospital after which she’ll face prosecution, the Police Commander asserted.

A source close to Rite news however indicated that the deceased was a married man.
