Rotary Club of Tesano Make Donations, Fetes the People of Tsledom

The Rotary Club of Tesano put smiles on the faces of the people of Tsledom in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region when they celebrated the just ended festive festivities with them.

This was after the Club donated water filters worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to them.

The president of the club, Jiggles Boakye-Gyimah said the group was devoted to contribute to the developmental and social needs of the people, describing it as part of the club’s core mandate to take concrete steps to make sure a smile is seen on everyone’s face since that is what the festive season stands for.

According to Mr. Boakye-Gyimah, development is a shared responsibility which needs collective and shared responsibility in order to realize this goal.

“We must not put all the burden on the Government, as good citizens of Ghana but a little contribution can bring a turnaround to the country” he noted.

He further urged the wealthy in society to show love to the needy so that they can feel part of society.

The items donated include: clothes, 6 bags of rice, 13 boxes of indomie, 8 boxes of pomade, shoes and footwear, school and other bags, canned foods, soft drinks, toffees, pastries, and chicken among others.

The donation was climaxed with the club feting the people with food and drinks and other items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.

The Rotary Club also organized basic health screening to check the health status of the members of the community.

Chief of the area, Dadematse Atteh took the opportunity to applaud the Rotary club of Accra-Tesano for showing them love especially at a time his people felt left out of the Christmas celebrations.

“We are very grateful for your kind gesture and the love you have shown us this time. May the good Lord continue to bless you in your ‘going out and coming in’ as you run your daily activities,” he added.

The children of Tsledom could also not hide their joy.

“We don’t even know what to say because we are overwhelmed with what they have done since this is the first of its kind in this community, may God bless them all,” they said.

They further expressed the hope that the Club celebrate with them every year.

BACKGROUND

The Tesano E-Rotary Club of Accra with its mother club in Southern Scotland in collaboration with Rite FM about four months ago donated 40 water filters worth Ghc 28000 to the people of Tsledom including the school and community to enhance potable water after several appeals and cries for potable drinking water.

Tsledom is a suburb of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the middle belt zone of the Municipality.

Rite FM’s Community Watch, a social advocacy talk show advocated on the unsafe water situation, inaccessible road network, health center among other things which have adversely affected the daily life activities of the people.
