Nuclear Power Institute Allays Fears over Use of Nuclear Energy

By Ivy Agbozo:

Dr. Seth Kofi Debrah, Manager of Nuclear Power Institute – Ghana has allayed the fears of Ghanaians at the thought of using nuclear energy to generate electricity.

He explained during an interview with Rite news that the project is carefully monitored by the International Atomic Agency and the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and has so far been declared as a safe project to undertake.

“The fact that nuclear energy is associated with bombs in Iran does not mean that the use of nuclear energy to generate electricity is to be feared. The dangers feared are only but a myth and Ghanaians must come to the understanding that nuclear energy is safe for use and would allow for mass production and as such, we are partnering with the electricity company of Ghana, ECG and GRIDCO,” Elikem Kinaku Ahiali, Manager at Public Relations and Information Centre declared during the same interview.
