A man, name withheld believed to be in his early thirties have been mistakenly taken for a thief, and butchered with cutlass by an unknown mob at the Kpognunor south electoral area in the Lower Manya Constituency today at about 3 a.m.
Honorable Raymond Gorson, assembly member for Kpong Ahodwo who disclosed this to the media explained that, he received a distress call at mid night from the assembly member of the area, Hon. Marte y Frederick who broke the bizarre incident.
According to Mr. Raymond, victim was visiting his girlfriend Gifty who resides at Kpongnunor, and haven been spotted by the unknown group at the odd hours of mid night, was questioned where he was coming from, but fears that gripped him caused him to save himself from any possible lynch or heckling by running.
However, in an attempt to escape from the ready to attack self-styled vigilante’s, was over powered and cutlass wounds infringed on his chest, stomach and legs making him restless to call for help. He was spotted lying in a stream of blood.
Efforts to reach Gifty for her side of the story proved futile, as her absence was met, but police say the matter is being investigated and that perpetrators of the abominable act will be traced and brought to book since capital punishment was not allowed in the country.
Mr. Raymond also said that, victim was not dead as at time of visit to the scene but needed Gods divine intervention to survive as the neck had a very deep cut and that, blood continued to ooze from the wounds.
He has therefore charged the police to act swiftly, so that every hand involved in the murder could be arrested since the victim was well known to regularly pay homage to his fiancé, a statement which tenants of Gifty’s house confirmed.
