Lower Manya: Gender Equality And Social Inclusion (GESI) Project Launched

An NGO, Youth and Women Empowerment (YOWE), has launched a project dubbed “Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) to increase the participatory and involvement of vulnerable into local governance service delivery in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.

The STAR-Ghana sponsored project was held at the Agormanya Parish Hall with dignitaries from the Manya Klo traditional council, local government authorities, market women associations, youth advocacy groups and farmer based organizations within the Lower and Upper Manya Krobo environs.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Siakwa Nuertey, the Director for YOWE, the project will focus on educating People With Disabilities (PWDs) on their right in governance as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.

“We will do more education to PWDs with advocacy skills,” Mr. Asiakwa told Rite Midday News.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh who grace the event with his entourage, Mr. Eric Hini, and Mr. Nathan Ceasar, Munucipal Coordinating Director and Municipal Engineer respectively, encouraged  participant to put themselves into any governing activities especially  projects to develop Krobo Land.

He added that as the government promised, he is about to launch the one district one factory project of which  Upper and Lower Manya krobo districts are beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the project is plaque with land to site the factory. The MCE pleaded on citizens to release land on compensation to enable government kick start the projects.
