Kotoko, Ashgold win outstanding FA Cup Round of 16 matches to book quarter-finals date on June 24

Reigning FA Cup Champions Asante Kotoko will face Ashantigold in a high profile MTN FA Cup quarter-final clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday June 24.

This was after Kotoko defeated Real Tamale United 1-0 in their outstanding Round of 16 match at the Baba Yara Stadium while Ashantigold also beat last year’s finalists Inter Allies 2-1 at the Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Substitute Obed Owusu’s 90th minute strike gave the Porcupine Warriors the win over the second tier side after the first half ended goalless.

In Obuasi, Eric Opoku and Alhaji Sani were the goal scorers for Ashantigold with Fuseini Eliasu pulling one back Inter Allies.

At the Cape Coast Stadium, third tier side Great Astronomers failed to continue their impressive ran in the FA Cup competition after they were beaten 4-5 on penalties in their Round of 16 match as the game ended 1-1 at fulltime.

With Hearts of Oak already through to the semifinal stage after beating Utrecht in their quarter-final match last Sunday, the FA Cup Committee has scheduled all outstanding quarterfinal matches for Wednesday June 24.

Below are the fixtures for the outstanding quarter final matches:

Asante Kotoko vs Ashantigold – Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi

Aduana Stars vs Eleven Wise – Agyeman Badu Park, Dormaa
