Hearts off to Tunis

Rite Sports can confirmed that, Accra Hearts of Oak will be without the injured duo of Selassie Adjei and South African import, Shaun October, when they depart Wednesday for Tunisia to play Esperance de Tunis in a crunch CAF Confederation Cup first leg tie on Sunday.

Striker Adjei briefly recovered from a knee injury he sustained when Hearts beat Olympique de Ngor of Senegal 2-1 in Accra and played briefly against Djoliba in Accra last month but has again failed to pass a fitness test ahead of the Esperance encounter.

The left – back Shaun October, who failed to train last Monday due to injury, confirmed he wouldn’t make the trip but refused to comment further.

However, Hearts would be boosted by the return of Captain Robin Gnagne and Isaac Oduro who all missed the crucial encounter against AC Djoliba in Accra due to suspensions.

Hearts Public Relations Officer, Muheed Saeed, confirmed that both Gnagne and Oduro are eligible in the game against Esperance on Sunday.

On whether the absence of Owusu Bempah and Mutawakilu Seidu, both on national assignment in New Zealand with the national U – 20 side, Black Satellites, will affect his side, Muheed added ‘’I don’t believe we will miss Mutawakilu because Tetteh Luggard will be there to assist Abdoulaye Soulama but Bempah for sure would be greatly missed.’’

He was confident his side would survive the Esperance challenge in Tunis.

Other players expected to make the trip are Fatawu Mohammed, Vincent Atinga, Kweku Andoh, Kofi Abanga, Ashitey Ollenu, Paul Acguah, Isaac Mensah and Sabahn Laryea.

The rest Gilbert Fiamenyo, Komi Foovi Aguide, Eric Kumi, Emmanuel Hayford and Thomas Abbey.

In other related development, Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Akosombo based division two side Krystal Palace 2-0 in a friendly game played at the Akosombo Akotex Park on Tuesday.

Leading striker; Gilbert Fiamenyo scored the first goal whiles Krystal Palace defender scored an own goal.

Hearts were using the match as warm up towards their upcoming game against Esperance on Sunday.
