Dissolve Black Stars team now”- Nyaho Tamakloe

Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has called for national team, the Black Stars, to be dissolved citing a lack of commitment on the part of the players.

The Black Stars have come under heavy criticism following the saga of the 2014 World Cup over the payment of appearance fees and there has been a growing perception from sections of the general public that financial reward is the motivation for the team and not national pride.

Speaking on The Ultimate Sports Morning Show on Accra-based Asempa FM on Thursday, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe said his personal take on the future of the team would be to put this entire team away.

” If you ask me of the way forward for this team with this sort of arrogance or inferiority complex that each and every individual there has got thinking they know but yet know nothing, my opinion of the future of the Black Stars is that they should be dissolved immediately and we should start afresh.

It must be dissolved like Algeria did and today, look at where they are.”

Follow previous experience

Nyaho Tamakloe made reference to a similar managerial decision he took in the late 80s when he was in charge of Accra Hearts of Oak. He threw out 22 players of the team and brought in younger players and he said such a call brought a positive change to the team.

He explained that such a radical was needed in relation to the Black Stars in order to bring better fortunes.

“In this world, when you have a problem, you should look at how others dealt with theirs and straighten your issues out. We will not be the first to dissolve a national team.”

No commitment

On the lack of commitment of the players, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe said a very simple proof of  his point was the inability of the players to sing the national team during matches and that was not the most ideal situation.

“Whenever we play a match, I watch these boys carefully and apart from about two players, the rest do not sing the national team. None of them can sing it.(In our next AFCON 2105 match against Algeria) On Friday, just watch them well. And we call this a national team?

Meanwhile, all the players in Algerian, Congolese and Burkinabe team can sing their national anthem. What are we talking about?”

Ghana’s AFCON 2015 future

Ghana will play against Algeria their second 2015 AFCON  Group C match on Friday and Dr. Tamakloe is not convinced the Black Stars would win that match.

” With what I saw in that match against Senegal and what I picked up when Algeria won against South Africa, there is no way we can defeat them.”
