The chiefs of Denkyira Oboase have appealed to Ghanaians and the President of Ghana to forgive and forget of the cold blooded murder of Major Adam Mahama while on national duty at Denkyira Oboase.

The Acting President of Denkyira Traditional Council, Nana Agyei  Enkyireye pleaded, saying “we have really regretted what happened and we ask Ghanaians for forgiveness. We promise not to repeat the act”.

Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama was lynched on Monday, May 29, by some residents of Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region where he had been stationed.

In another related development, the chief had pronounced new identity for the community.

“From tomorrow onwards, we have changed the name of Denkyira Oboase to New Denkyira Oboase,” the chief said.

Adding to the apology, the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamena Duncan asked Ghanaians to accept the words from the chiefs; assuring, it will not happen again.

The President was humbled by the demeanor of the chiefs and their people and thus accepted their plea, but however, said the law will deal with those arrested.
