An overlord at Akyem Awisa in the Eastern region, Nana Nuako Oppong Kwakye (Amanonehene), responsible for the welfare of indigenes of  Awisa who stay abroad has signaled his utmost displeasure about pastors in the country, who seek for the HIV status of partners before engagement or wedding.

He has totally condemned it, saying it is inappropriate and ungodly since it is is a major cause of disparity and discrimination against humanity which the Holy Bible forbids, and that pastors who believe in HIV test before marriage should desist without any reproach.

Nana Nuako disclosed this in an interview with Owuraku Asamoah, host of morning ride on rite FM today. According to the Ghanaian Abroad based chief, it is high time such illicit acts flee from our traditions and culture, as discrimination against humanity is a criminal offence liable for imprisonment.

He said that, there are many other diseases like hepatitis B and malaria which needed to be given much attention but are not voiced because we feel they are not deadly. “Hepatitis B and malaria is more deadly than HIV most people fear most”. He added.

“I expect the pastors and church leaders in the country to declare their HIV status first, and then they can make enquiries about others” Nana hinted, noting that people affected with the deadly disease also have every right to marry, join association’s without any form of intimidation, fear and panic.

In conclusion, Nana Badu opined that people living with HIV pay tithes and give offertory to help the church grow and this discrimination must stop because it is not right even in the sight of the Lord.
