Andre Ayew joins Swansea on a 5 year deal

Free agent Andre Ayew has signed for Swansea after undergoing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Confirming the news on Twitter, the official Swansea twitter handle said” We are pleased to announce the signing of Ghanaian forward Andre Ayew on a 5-Year deal on a free transfer.

The announcement of the deal puts an end to numerous rumours about Andre Ayew’s next destination.

Swansea are in need of bolstering their attacking options this summer, having lost Wilfried Bony to Manchester City in January and his short-term replacement, loanee Nelson Oliveira, having returned to Benfica.

Ayew’s contract was allowed to run down at Marseille because of reported financial constraints at the club and he was linked with Tottenham and Roma.

The Ghanaian is the son of three-time African Football of the Year winner Abedi Ayew Pele, who spent five years at Marseille over two separate spells.

Andre began his senior career at Marseille, with stints on loan at FC Lorient and Arles-Avignon, before scoring over 44 league goals for the French Ligue 1 club.

However, Andre Ayew will wear his favourite No. 10 at Swansea City after completing the deal to play for the English Premier League side on Wednesday.
