A Modern Toilet Facility for Nkurakan, Thanks To Djetse Apertey

The people of Nkurakan in the Eastern region now own a modern toilet facility, thanks to the efforts of the 2016 New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary candidate for the Yilo Krobo constituency.

The singular efforts of the failed parliamentary candidate has led to the provision of a 24-seater-modern toilet facility for the people he sought to represent in parliament.

The 2016 NPP parliamentary aspirant for the Yilo Krobo Constituency, Mr. Djetse Apertey has constructed the facility containing 24 seats together with 8 bathrooms at a cost of ¢350,000 for the people of Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo Municipality to improve upon the sanitation situation in the area as well as bringing an end to some communicable diseases affecting the people of the area.

Mr. Djetse Apertey who spoke with Rite news in an interview after the commissioning of the project noted that contributing to the development of the country should be a shared responsibility of the citizenry and not that of the president only.

“Contributing to the development of the country should not be the responsibility of only the president but individuals can also contribute their quota to ensure that the people have access to a friendly and safe environment,” he asserted.

The NPP party man said his decision to embark on the construction of the toilet facility in the community arose out of the poor sanitary conditions in the Nkurakan community.

“I gathered that sanitation remains a problem in Nkurakan as many engage in an open defecation and thereby making the environment unhealthy and inconvenient for living,” the philanthropist said.

Other projects

The former MP aspirant also disclosed that he has started several projects in other parts of the municipality after visiting most of the villages in the municipality to acquaint himself with their grievances and affected communities will attract equal attention to have their share of the developmental agenda which he has set.

He said a borehole was currently under construction to serve the water needs for the people of the Nkurakan community.

Another project which Mr. Apertey is undertaking is the construction of a 12-classroom storey block together with a headmaster’s bungalow which has so far cost Gh ¢250, 000 for the Zongo community in Somanya.

Mr. Apertey’s next project is to provide a toilet facility for the market women at Agogo which he buttressed is geared towards improving upon the sanitation situation in the district.

“A piece of land has been acquired for the construction of a toilet facility for the market women at Agogo to ensure proper sanitation in the area,” he said.

The 2016 parliamentary candidate however advised beneficiary communities to adopt the spirit of maintenance culture to protect the edifices he is providing.

Queenmother of Nkurakan, Manye Diana Sinahamo on behalf of the community, expressed their sincere appreciation to Mr. Apertey for such a wonderful work done and assured him of proper maintenance of the facilities.

On his part, the former Eastern Regional minister, Mr. Yaw Barimah also applauded the philanthropist as he called for collective effort to develop the country for the benefit of all.
