Girl Poisons Boyfriend With Mashed Bottle

A 19-year-old lady, Abigail Asamoah, has been arrested by the Eastern Regional police for allegedly poisoning her boyfriend at Aprade near Akuapem-Akropong.

She was said to have ground Guinness bottle, mixed the stuff with okro stew with intent to kill the boy for cheating on her.

She has been granted a police enquiry bail and currently assisting in investigation, while the boyfriend, Kwame Gyan, a mason, is also receiving medical attention.

ASP Yeboah Nketiah, Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), briefing DAILY GUIDE, said Mr Kwame Gyan, a native of Aprade-Akropong, on Monday left for work and his wife who stays elsewhere, came to the house while he was away and prepared banku and okro stew meant for the husband.

According to ASP Nketiah, Abigail Asamoah also came to the house after the man’s wife had left, ground the bottle and mixed it with the okro stew that had been prepared by the woman.

The police officer hinted that Kwame Gyan returned home very late that day and so he didn’t eat the food until the following day. He reportedly sent the food to his workplace and as he was eating it, detected that there was a substance like mashed bottle in the stew.

Being suspicious, ASP Nketiah said, the man went to the Akropong police station to report the matter and the girlfriend was busted last Wednesday.

Upon interrogation, Abigail was said to have admitted the act, claiming that her boyfriend had told her that he had broken up with his wife, which turned out to be untrue and so by that he was cheating on her (Abigail).

ASP Nketiah disclosed that the lady had been charged for attempting to murder, and would be put before court after investigation had been completed.
