Akuse prisons denies story on missing prisoners

The Akuse prison command led by assistant director of prisons (ADP) Fiifi Acquah has denied a report carried by Joy News with the head banner, eight prisoners at Akuse prisons missing.

Speaking on the Morning Ride Show on Rite FM, he explained that, two judges, Justice C.J Honyenuga and C.K Hometowu  visited the prisons following the Justice for all program call for the hearing of 23 short listed prisoners cases out of which 8 were not present at the time for their case to be reviewed.

ADP Acquah explained  further that, some police officers had come for the eight prisoners to process them for court before the judges arrived for their case to be reviewed, and even the judges were made aware. He added.

He said the judges told them (prisons) to monitor the eight and ensure they are brought back.

The prisons commander described the story as false, attributing it to the fact that, reporters from joy FM wanted to interview some of the prisoners of which they were denied access.

‘And I strongly believe that is why they published that story’. He said.

They will react to it at the appropriate time.
