Reports gathers by Rite Sports can confirm that, Chelsea have handed Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman £75,000-a-week deal after the Augsburg star signed a five-year deal in London yesterday, it has been confirmed on the club’s officials.
Rahman, who had been on the shopping list of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho all summer, penned a deal reportedly worth £21.5 million and is expected to be officially unveiled in London today, according to reports.
Rahman said: ‘’ I am very happy to sign for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I can’t wait to train with my new team-mates and very much looking forward to working with them and Mr. Mourinho.
‘’I am also looking forward to having the opportunity to meet the fans as soon as possible.’’
The 21-year-old left-back underwent a successful medical in Paris at the weekend which paved the way for his move to the English Premiership Champions.
Rahman’s arrival at Stamford Bridge is expected to fill the void left by Filipe Luis after his move to Atletico Madrid,
The English Premiership Champions currently having just Cesar Azpilicueta as their only option at left-back with Kurt Zouma having filled in from the bench when the Spanish defender went off injured in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.
But he has been given assurances that he will be part of Mourinho’s plans for the coming season after setting up a five-year deal worth £21.7m.
Rahman, a pacy and attacking full-back who can also operate as a midfielder or winger, made more successful tackles than any other player in the Bundesliga last season. He also attempted the most crosses from the left flank.
