Youth In Cocoa Program Will Boost Cocoa Production-Janet Yeboah

Deputy Manager of Public Affairs of COCOBOD, Madam Yeboah has made an assurance that the ‘Youth in Cocoa Program’ will bring in able-bodied young people to replace the aged to boost cocoa production in the country. Speaking to Madam Jane Yaboah with the Rite news, she said the situation whereby mostly only the aged are actively in cocoa production is not helping.

This according to her is why they introduce the program as advised by Dr. Stephen Opuni to encourage the Youth to enter into cocoa production in order to maximize enough cocoa for exportation adding that there are now about 40,000 youth in cocoa production nationwide.

She was however particularly relieved of the cocoa mass spraying program which she said is very bright.

She added that they were inaugurating task forces in the cocoa growing region and they are now in Central Region with the aim of making sure they supply farmers with agric inputs such as fertilizers and chemicals to help the cocoa sector.

Madam Yeboah meanwhile reacting to allegations that cocoa farms are being razed down at Asikasu in favour of rubber production promised to investigate those allegations.
