Young ministers are smarter than Rawlings – Allotey Jacobs

Central Regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has laughed off a claim by former President Jerry Rawlings that young persons in the Mahama government are ‘babies with sharp teeth’.

According to Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the so-called babies with sharp teeth playing instrumental roles in government have proven to be “smarter than Mr. Rawlings”.

The former president in response to invectives thrown at him by the youth for criticising the erstwhile Atta Mills administration described them as “babies with sharp teeth”.

“They are babies with hard teeth … (which they can use to) bite hard (and) spew some very horrible invectives,” Mr. Rawlings said.

But Allotey Jacobs on Adom FM’s Midday News said a ‘bitter’ Rawlings said those derogatory words against the likes of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and Dr. Omane Boamah just to give them a bad name.

“These guys are smarter than Mr. Rawlings and I know he has even realised that they are on top of issues,” he stated.

The Central Region NDC Chairman also described as laughable, claims that the young parliamentary candidates elected by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are “babies with sharp brains”.

In his view, the young aspiring Members of Parliament in the NPP cannot be compared to the “smart and discerning” young men and women serving in government.

“The young NPP parliamentary candidates are toddlers who are learning how to crawl, but our youth are already walking,” he insisted.

Allotey Jacobs said it will be, in the interest of the NPP, to nurture and mentor the young MP aspirants before the 2016 general election.
