YEA To Establish A Cassava Plantation And Build A Factory In The Eastern Region – YEA’s Board.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has hinted its intention to set up a cassava plantation, hence considering to establish a processing factory in the Eastern Region.

The Board Chairman, Mr. Sammy Awuku who made this revelation led a delegation constituting of Board and Management members as well as Ambassadors of the YEA to pay a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin.

The agency is currently working to implement new initiatives; Job Center, Artisan Directory, Regional and District flagship programmes across the country.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the agency, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong explaining the benefit of their initiative said, the youth were going to gain employment as well as entrepreneurship skills.

Part of its Regional and District Flagship programs intends to cultivate a cassava plantation. He also added that the Agency is considering plans to build a Processing Factory in the Eastern Region.

He said this when he led a delegation headed by the CEO of the Agency, Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong together with some Board and Management members and Ambassadors to pay a courtesy call on the Okyehene, His Royal Majesty Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin to introduce the Agency’s new initiatives (Job Centre, Artisan Directory and the Regional and District Flagship programs) to him.

The CEO Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong, elaborated the benefits these new initiatives were going to present to the Ghanaian, especially the youth. He reiterated government’s commitment to creating sustainable jobs for the Youth in a bid to ending the seeming recycling of youth unemployment in the country.
The Board Chairman and CEO called on the King to support YEA in the region and implored him to use his influence and networks to garner investor support for the Agency.

The Public Relations Officer of the agency, Mr Alwal Mohammed speaking on Rite Morning Ride further said their outfit is enrolling several projects in the agricultural sector to create jobs and boost food crop production in the region and Ghana as a whole.He added that, the program is aimed at providing employment to those in galamsey prone areas to end that canker by proving job opportunity.

Alwal Mohammed noted that, the program when well implemented will provide both direct and indirect employ more than 2,000 people, added that the Agency is poised to empower and improve the livelihoods of young people as mandated by the Act.

Meawhile His Royal Majesty Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin the paramount chief Akyem Abuakwa commended the Agency for its commitment to their mandate of job creation and urged them to lead the path of Ghana’s development as envisioned by the president.

The King called on government to employ innovative ways to shift the focus of the Youth from small scale mining to Agriculture. He posited that it is only through Agriculture, Education and Infrastructure that Ghana can become great after 62years of independence.
