WE NEED INSECTICIDES-GINGER FARMERS

Ginger farmers at Jasikan in the Volta Region are complaining bitterly that they don’t have any insecticides to help them fight any disease outbreak on their farms.

In an interview with Mohammed Ibrahim, a ginger farmer at Jasikan, he said ginger farmers in that area were not happy because they don’t have any insecticides to help them to control diseases that attack ginger. He said most chemical shops have various insecticides for the various crops but there is none available as long as ginger farming is concerned.

Mr Ibrahim further stated that inadequate rain fall this year has really affected their farm work.

He added that they don’t have any issues as long as marketing is concerned since there are already reliable companies and market women who buy the ginger in appreciable quantities.

He later advised that people should involve themselves in ginger farming because it’s a very profitable venture.

He appealed to the government to help them with insecticides to fight any disease outbreak.
