We need Assistance to expand our Business

Grasscutter farmers at Akwatia in the Eastern region have poured out their grievances and emphasizing on the need for the various relevant authorities to come to their aid and alleviate them of some of the problems they were going through.

Stephen Terkper, a grasscutter farmer at Akwatia in an interview on the Rite Morning Ride said their businesses were of great value and essential to both individuals and the country as a whole. He said the outbreak of the deadly disease Ebola last year played a negative effect on grasscutter farming. He attributed this to consumers avoiding the delicacy due to the massive campaign against the bush meat as a possible medium of the spread of the ebola virus.

According to Mr. Terkper, this totally collapsed their business as most of the farmers had to sell their animals in order to find an escape route out of business.

He also lamented that, they were faced with many challenges such as common cold killing their animals, poor ventilation, and inadequate funds to enable them expands their business among others.

He further added that, they are pleading on various relevant authorities to come to their aid to enable them expand their activities to other sectors.
