We Need Assistance-Ginger Farmers

Ginger farmers at Gyasikan in the Volta region are complaining bitterly at government’s reluctance and feetdragging regarding their needs. According to the concerned farmers, it was very unfortunate that authorities were not attending to their needs despite persistent calls to that effect.

Mohammed Ibrahim, a ginger farmer in the Gyasikan district in the Volta region in an interview on Akuafo Se Sen, a segment on the Rite Morning Ride affirmed to the statement that the authorities in the district are not paying attention to them as these conditions make their work extremely tedious.

He said ginger farming was a very capital intensive venture and whose cultivation requires large hectares of land.

That is not all; the absence of extension farmers is another headache. Extension agents in most districts in the country are no longer very regular to their operational areas due to the absence of fuel allowances to convey them to the sites.
