Mr. Sampong Djidzornu, an established a poultry famer has confirmed that rearing local birds comes with a lot of challenges which if not adequately addressed will not favour the rearing of local birds in the country much against our expectations.
Speaking on Rite FM’s Morning Ride, Mr. Djidzornu said since last year, a lot of challenges have cropped up against the poultry industry. He said a lot of these challenges have not been addressed which has compelled a lot of his colleagues to quit from the local birds production to exotic breeds.
According to him they still faced the challenges which do not enable effective poultry production. A troubled Mr. Dzidzornu recollected how they lost a lot of their birds in 2015 as a result of the Avian Influenza and other diseases which affected their birds.
He chastised veterinary officers whom he accused of neglecting them and their resolve to fight off the diseases.
