We Are Ready To Transform MAKROSEC To Grade ‘A’ School – Newly Inducted Headmistress

Manya Krobo Senior High School (Makrosec) has deepened the school’s history after successfully inducting Mrs Agnes Nanor, the first old student as substantive headmistress of the school. This also marks the first female but 9th appointed to head the second cycle institution since its establishment in 1969.

The headmistress, Mrs Agnes Nanor in an interview with Rite FM, expressed her readiness to work with management, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and their parents to move the school into the Grade ‘A’ category of schools in the country.

She made this vow after her induction ceremony at the school’s Assembly Hall on Saturday.

Until Saturday October 5, 2019, Mrs Agnes Nanor has been the acting headmistress of the school since June 1, 2018 when she was transferred from Owareman Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti region.

Having completed Makrosec in 1986, Mrs Agnes Nanor holds Degree and Masters in Agricultural Science and Educational Administration and Management respectively from the University of Education Winneba.

Her work experiences includes Basic School Coordinator for Junior High Schools at Asante Mampong Education Directorate, Girls Education Officer for same directorate but later transferred to act same in the Asokore Mampong District. She was also Assistant Headmistress – Domestic at Amaniampong SHS and later a substantive Headmistress, Owareman Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti region. She is at the rank of Deputy Director of Education.

Mrs Agnes’ Game Changing Slogan
Following high inspirations of the new headmistress, upon assumption of duty, she has instituted the slogan: “discipline our hall mark; operation teach and learn, operation liter not”.

“I have high inspiration for the school and, that is the reason why when I entered the school I introduced the slogan, discipline our hall mark; operation teach and learn, operation liter not,” she told Rite FM.

Explaining her slogan, Mrs Agnes Nanor said, with discipline environment and effective management supervision, teachers and students will play their respective roles serious, where greater result will be the ultimate.

Infrastructure Dev’t and Call to Increase the Development Levy
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in his good will message, told the gathering his office as well the government will continue to support the school until it is elevated among the best schools in the country.

According to the MCE, he has facilitated a 12 unit story building classroom (completed) and an ongoing 6-unit classroom block as well as a 10-seater toilet facility which shall be completed in no time.

Mrs Agnes Nanor, the new headmistress also commend the MCE for supporting the school with eighteen thousand Ghana Cedis for purchasing laterite for the resurface of the roads in the school.

She has however, appealed to the government to increase the component of the Development Levy in the Free SHS grants since the school needs infrastructure expansion.

The school (Makrosec) has built an eight unit pavilion from the previous tranches of Development levies received from government, housing some first year students.

In attendance are dignitaries from the clergy, representatives of the Ghana Education Service – national, regional and district; family members, old and current students, colleague teachers and head teachers, and traditional rulers.

The Municipal Chief Executive who is a former tutor of the school, some members from the media and scores of the public had also came to witness the ceremony.

Manya Krobo Senior High School is marking its 70th annivesary this year with a closing ceremony November, 2019.
