We Are Likely To Drop Out Of Business- Fish Farmers

Fish farmers at Elmina near Cape Coast in the Central region of the country have said that they are likely to fall out of business if government and various relevant authorities don’t put in place measures to sustain them. Nana Akono, a chief fish farmer at Cape Coast made the plea in an interview on the Morning Ride. He said this was due to the high cost of their indebtedness which they have been forced to incur to keep their businesses going.

Nana Akono said ‘patrons’ have invaded their fishing activities rendering them with no choice than to come out of business, adding that they sometimes had to depend on Bank loans as the only sources of funds to finance their activities.

He further lamented that, several pleas to the relevant agencies and authorities have not yielded any positive results. He said they have been trying to cope with the situation but it is very difficult to continue to do so.

He said they were still pleading on the government and other concerned institutions to come to their aid.
