Veterinary Services Bare Teeth

By Austin Ofori

Veterinary doctors in the Ashanti Region are planning on embarking on a strike action to press home their demand for their conditions of service that have not been addressed for a considerable period of time.

But it isn’t all about the Ashanti region. Mr. Isaac Numo Teye, a veterinary officer in the Eastern Region has told Rite news that they were considering a similar action authorities are unwilling to meet their conditions of service.

He said the situation has persisted since 2011 and nothing has been done about their plight adding that though their work comes as very risky, they are not provided with enough logistics for their work.

Mr. Numo Teye added that their work include the airport and borders to make sure only safe animals are brought into the Country so.

He admitted that their strike would risk unsafe animals being brought into the country as well as more rabies cases being recorded from possible infected dogs. However, they have no choice but embark on the strike if government continues to ignore them.
