VEGETABLE FARMERS URGED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE RAINY SEASON

Vegetable farmers have been urged to take advantage of the raining season to increase their production this year. The Municipal Director of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in charge of crops in Yilo Krobo Office has said. He also called on cowpea and beans farmers to also take advantage as well.

Francis Nii Klottey the Director in charge of crops however deterred maize farmers from taking advantage this rains, stating that maize does not do well much in this major season but rather in minor season.

Speaking on the ‘Akuafo Se Sen’ segment on the  Rite FM’s morning Ride, he drew farmers attention to the possible infection that harm crops in the raining season advising farmers to maintain their farms to prevent the influx of bacteria and fungi disease.

He further added, frequent clearing of weeds and spacing of crops during planting can save farmers from these diseases since it will allow enough ventilation in their farms.
