USAID/Feed the Future ….The Best Poverty Reduction Intervention In Ghana

The poverty interventions being implemented  by USAID / Feed the Future (FtF) according to the USAID-METSS Ghana on Thursday March 17th 2016, during a one day stakeholder’s presentation on their 2015 Population-Based Survey results on Poverty and Nutrition in the Northern region of Ghana at Alisa Hotel in Accra, Ghana is the best for the country.

In a presentation by Dr. Vincent Amanor-Boadu, an agribusiness management economist, from Kansas State University, study shows that “compared to Brong Ahafo, the odds of being poor is 1.9 times higher in Northern Region, 2.9 times higher in Upper East Region and 4.1 times higher in Upper West Region” he stated

According to him the odds of being poor with education are about 0.6 times the odds of being poor without education. This is an accession to the fact that, education is one of the major tools for poverty alleviation. He believes that policymakers can help poverty alleviation by facilitating the enabling environment and individuals can also do their part by enhancing their education and investing in that of their kids.

According to Mr. Cesar Guvele of METSS Ghana, availability of food production, Access to household food production, and Utilization of food health situation are the major pillars to pay maximum attention to ensure food security for a country.
