The Leadership of Feed the Future program of USAID Ghana in collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Technical Support Services (METSS) Ghana on Thursday March 17th 2016, held a one day stakeholders presentation on their 2015 Population-Based Survey results on Poverty and Nutrition in the Northern region of Ghana at Alisa Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

This survey was conducted by USAID –METSS, in partnership with, Ghana Statistical services, University of Cape Coast and the Kansas State University.

In attendance of this very important program were: officials of USAID, Leaders and staff of METSS Ghana, representatives of major non–governmental organizations, representatives of private institutions and the media.

According to the Officials of USAID this is a US Government’s strategic approach towards achieving its commitments under the Global Hunger and Food security initiative. The core of the initiative is to reduce poverty and enhance nutritional status in developing countries such as Ghana.

According to Dr. Vincent Amanor-Boadu, an agribusiness management economist, from Kansas State University, the targeted zones of influence of this project which are the Brong Ahafo Region, Northern Region, Upper East Region and the Upper West Region have recorded some appreciable level of development when they compare the 2015 survey report to the 2012 survey report. An indication the interventions of USIAD/Feed the Future (FtF) program has influence the living standard of these communities.

Speaking to the media on the sustainability of the project’s impact after 2018, Dr. Vincent Amanor-Boadu believes that public private partnership approach of the Feed the Future (FtF) project will surely provide sustainability to the project. He explains that these is because as the Government provide the necessary conditions for business operations, the private companies will ensure they run the systems in order to make the best of return hence the livelihoods of these local farmers who produce raw materials for the private institutions will record continues growth.

The presentation will be held in Sunyani, and Tamale,  on March 21, 2016  at Eusbett Hotel and Gilbt Training Center respectively and in Wa and Bolgatanga on march 22, 2016 at Nuoyong Hotel and  Extee Crystal Hotel respectively.
