The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) is predicting more rains in the southern sector as the country is in the minor rainy season.

The volume of rain being experienced in the minor season may, however, recede in November to give way for the harmattan season.

Parts of the country have experienced heavy rains within the last few weeks with some areas getting flooded.

Accra was the hardest hit as part of the city submerged after several hours of downpour Monday. Parts of Lower Manya – Kpongunor and Nuaso were never different after a short while rain fall on early part of Sunday night.

Residents living in flood prone areas are living on tenterhooks following the Meteo prediction.

Deputy Director in charge of Forecasting at GMet, Joseph Poturphy, who disclosed this on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Tuesday, urged the public to be cautious due to expected heavy rainstorm and thunder.

He said though the rains in recent times may appear to be abnormal, they are not out of place, especially in the southern sector.

Mr Poturphy said the southern part of the country is experiencing the minor rainy season which started mid-September.

The northern part, he said, is expected to exit the rainy season within this month and the entire minor rainy season of the country is expected to end in November.

Mr Poturphy called on all to be mindful of the daily forecast issued by the Meteo Agency before stepping out to avoid any inconvenience.
