The Chairperson for Social Services Sub-Committee and Assembly member for Sra Electoral Area in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, Hon. Paul Ayertey has admitted Somanya, the municipal capital is engulf in filth.
In an interview with Omanba Kodwo Boafo on Rite FM’s Community Watch Saturday, the equivocal Assemblyman described the sanitation situation of Yilo Krobo as crisis calling for critical attention.
” Yilo has gone beyond the ordinary and now is in critical sanitation crises; and crises situation calls for crises solution. I called the zoom lion manager at Yilo Krobo and complained to him but still the problem has not been resolved,” he said.

However, the MCE for Yilo Krobo has confirmed to Community Watch, the Akuse disposal site is under litigation over ownership thus injunction from a competent court of jurisdiction has ordered the three assemblies to stay away from the site till further notice.
For over three weeks now, Zoom Lion refuse containers are full and ‘vomiting’ excess rubbish as a result of where to dispose off the waste.
Report according to the Hon. Paul Ayertey says, some residents are sharing room or kitchen with rubbish.
The assembly is currently contemplating to allocate portion of its 100 acre mango farm for waste disposal site.
But, while the Social Services Sub-Committee Chair agrees to the proposal, the Municipal Sanitation and Environmental Health Officer (MEHO) holds the view that, it is unhealthy to harbour waste in the mango farm.
While some callers were in agreement with the expert, MEHO, some have questioned if the waste, when sent there would not be treated with chemical?
The Assembly member, Mr. Paul Ayertey have been organizing emergency and self-help meetings for communities within his Electoral Area since things are getting out of hand.
He has assured to do all his possible best to ensure the problem is resolved.
