The entire constituency of Shai Osudoku has been thrown into a state of mourning following the death of the parliamentary candidate. The Parliamentary candidate for the Shai Osudoku constituency in the Greater Accra region, William Desmond Ocloo died through a dastardly motor accident last night. The accident occurred last night at Juaso in the Ashanti region.
An eyewitness account had it that at about 9:30 pm on Thursday, he together with others was on their way to Kumasi when upon reaching Juaso, they came cross a very huge traffic.
He said it was upon alighting from their vehicle that they realized the traffic was as a result of a horrible accident. According to him, the late Ocloo’s vehicle was involved in a collision with a KIA truck which was travelling in the opposite direction. The eyewitness said the deceased was already dead and trapped in the car by the time fire service personnel could pull him out of the wreckage.
Confirming the accident to Rite news, Mr. Ignacious Dordoye, Assembly member for the Natriku electoral area said he was informed of the accident and death at 4:am.
He explained that the deceased parliamentary candidate was alone in the car and was on his way to Kumasi on Thursday when he was involved in the accident.
According to Mr. Dordoye, this was not the first time Mr. Ocloo was involved in an accident, adding that he had been involved in other minor accidents prior to this.
Willie as he was popularly called beat three other contestants including the incumbent MP, honourable Davies Assumeng and Presidential Staffer, Dr. Kpessah Whyte in the NDC primaries in November 2015 to win the rights to contest on the party’s ticket in the November polls.
Desmond William Ocloo left behind a wife and five girls.
