Shai Osudoku District Ready For Farmers Day Celebrations

By Saddath Asiamah

People and especially farmers of the Shai Osudoku district of the Greater Accra region are about 70% prepared for this year’s Farmers Day celebration which comes off on the 4th of December. This was stated by Mr. Jonathan Nartey, Director of Extensions and a member of the Farmers Day planning committee at the Shai Osudoku District on Tuesday’s ‘Feed the Future’ platform.

He said attractive prizes were ready to be given to winners, adding that these prizes were as a result of the kind donations and sponsorships from some devoted people who wish to help the farmers to celebrate their day. He said prizes did not come from the government and that the only thing that comes from the government was the certificates to be given to the farmers.

The district director was however of the concern that their expectations for the celebrations were not met as a budget of GHC 48,000 they presented was not fully met. According to Mr. Jonathan, the district has received just GHC 30,000 for the celebrations which is woefully inadequate. He was however optimistic that they’ll make the best of what they have been given.
