Shai Osudoku District Outlines Measures To Prevent Spread Of COVID 19

The Shai Osudoku District Public Health Emergency Committee (PHEMC) has announced some restrictions to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Head of the information service department in the district Mrs Cornelia Asante Obeng speaking to Rite Morning Ride said, four major check points and barriers shall be mounted at various principal routes.

According to Mrs Cornelia, “these check points will be manned by personels from the Ghana Police Service and health officials from the Ghana Health Service, military personels and the District Task Force”.

The approved routes to be checked are: Kordiabe-Agomeda Road, Doryumu- Kordiabe Road, Doryumu Police Station, Ayikuma- Larteh Road, Dodowa- Somanya Road, Asutsuare Junction and Dodowa- Mensabar Road.

The Assembly further noted that persons on board of a vehicle entering any part of Shai Osudoku District without reasonable and justifiable course shall be returned by personnel at the check points.


The measures also tasked pubs and drinking spots, food venders, chop bars and authorized game centers in the district to ensure veronica bucket attached with liquid soap, tissue paper and alcohol based hand sanitizer are available for customers use.

Mrs Asante Obeng to Austin Ofori Addo, the Committee may review it directives in course of time.

But she cautioned that the Assembly will not hesitate to close down any of spot operator who fails to comply with the directives.

“The District COVID-19 Taskforce has been mandated to ensure that you comply,” Mrs Asante Obeng Cornelia said.


Observing the social distancing protocol, chop bar and restaurant operators are directed to avoid setting tables and chairs in their premises in other to avoid eating from the chop bars.


Hotels and Guests Houses within the district are also expected to provide the Assembly with data on visitors received from March 29, 2020 till date.


Motorbike commercial activities otherwise referred to Okada has been banned in the District till further notice. However, motorbike will be allowed to carry a pillion rider in compliance with social distance directive.

Citizens are admonished and encouraged to, as much as possible, stay at home if they do not have any urgent activities to do outside home to avoid the transmission of the Virus.
