Report Any NIA officer who engages in corrupt practices! -NIA Boss Charges

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has called on Ghanaians to report officials when spotted engaging in an illegality.

The Corporate Affairs Director of the NIA Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI I), Francis Palmdeti, told Rite Morning Ride, “all NIA officials were warned during training about the consequences of engaging in any acts of criminality,” adding that “officials were also instructed to promptly report any acts of criminality they may come across in the line of duty to the police.”
The responds followed a call by some Fulanis’ at Juapong in the Volta Region.

Mr. Arhmed Barry, youth leader for Fulani Youth Association of Ghana told Rite News they are being allegedly maltreated and bullied by one Israel Bokor who denies them from registering or claiming their cards after registration.
This according to them has infringed on their right since as Ghanaians .
The Corporate Affairs Director of the NIA, ACI I Francis Palmdeti said, before a Ghana Card is issued, an applicant must go through an elaborate process preceded with an interview by a registration official who then assists to fill an application form with required personal data.

Applicant’s biometric data finger prints among others are also captured by the Mobile Registration Workstation (MRW) operator after which, a slip specifying the information captured is given to the applicant to confirm accuracy of captured data before card is printed out.

The NIA will not shield any official who engages in crime. The general public should also not shield NIA staff who engage in any kind of corrupt practice or crime.

“The integrity of the National Identification System is intact, and the authority will continue to ensure that the information captured into the National Identity Register will be protected from any kind of unauthorized access,” the authority stated.

The public is advised to report any uncertainties to the police or the appropriate authorities at the National Identification Authority offices for the necessary steps and sanctions to be executed.
