President Pay Work Day Visit To Ceramics Factory.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has paid a working day visit to the Keda ceramics factory at Aboadze, near Shama in the Western Region, where ceramic tiles is produced to feed the local and export markets.

The factory, Keda Ceramics, operates a 14.4 million square metres production facility which will help reduce the importation of tiles into the country from $90.66 million to $7.86 annually and is expected to provide about 1000 direct jobs and 800 indirect jobs when in full operation by September this year.

The factory, a subsidiary of Sunda (MU) Holdings Limited, a Chinese company, is a boost to the government’s ‘1-district, 1- factory’ industrialization program.

According to the President, they aim to change the face of the country’s economy and also to enhance the use of raw materials in the country.

He also praised them for sourcing all their raw materials locally and providing employment for the unemployed youth in the area.

Yan Chang Shen, chairman of Keda ceramics lauded the government initiative of 1 district 1 factory, and the Ghana beyond aid agenda.

He stated that, the factory is a made in Ghana factory, and their brand “KEDA” which means “made in Ghana”.

He said the second phase of the factory will begin in September, which will make annual production of 21million square meters, the investment will reach 77 million USD.
