Physically Challenged Farmer Advises Colleagues To Resort To Farming

By Serwaah Boampong:

A lot of our physically-challenged brothers and sisters continue to line the streets of the cities and towns, soliciting for alms. The general impression from this phenomenon is that, they have very limited opportunities.

However, Mr. Kwabena Samuel is one of a few exceptions to this craze. He was adjudged the best physically-challenged farmer during the December 4th National Farmers Day held in his district, the Shai Osudoku district in the Greater Accra Region.

He told Rite news his disability is not a hindrance to his farming activities, stressing that farming cannot only be about stretgh but the financial capital to pursue it. Samuel is not too pleased about the physically-challenged soliciting for alms on our streets urging them to take existing opportunities in the field of agriculture.

Samuel Kwabena won the best physically-challenged farmer with his maize, cassava and plantain farm. He tells ritefmonline.org that it was possible for a physically-challenged person to farm. He added that his farm is meant to supply food to the physically-challenged and advises everybody else to venture into farming.
