Peasant Farmers Content With Government’s Fertilizer Subsidy
By: Austin Ofori Addo
Finance and Administrative Manager for the Peasant Farmers Association, Mr. Mohammed Sani Adjei has said peasant farmers are content with government’s attention to their plight, particularly regarding their cry for the provision of subsidies on fertilizer.
Mr. Adjei who was speaking on the Rite Mornign Ride said they were very content with the assistance despite the fact that not all of thir concerns have been adequately addressed, adding that government government has drastically increased its support for the farming sector over the years. This he noted was very commendable.
Mr. adjei however noted that due to the climate change, crops tend to be badly affected in terms of strength and nutrition. He said this compelled them to petition the government to look at the organic fertilizers that will help boost agriculture in the country.
He was also particularly happy with the governments ‘substantial’ financial support for the sector and advised his colleague farmers to follow laid down procedures.
