Report says a notorious armed robber has been gunned down in a shoot out battle with the Police Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Police Headquarters in Ntoaso near Adoagyir in the Eastern region.
In early hours of Friday, 21st February 2020, officers of the Police Counter Terrorism Unit of the Police Headquarters responded to a distress call regarding the activity of the suspect who has been on the police wanted list for some time now at Ntoaso.
Nenebi Yaa Ahofe, a broadcast journalist in the area confirming the news to Rite FM saaid, “the CTU team on arrival at the scene noticed a group of armed men numbering about eight(8) who upon seeing Police opened fire.”
The police officers returned fire hitting the ribs and head, leading to the death of one of the suspect who has been identified as Sheriff but the other accomplices managed to escape.
Police retrieved from the scene items including pump-action gun, cartridges, smartphones and motorbikes.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue while the police intensifies effort to arrest the remaining suspect.
