The opposition NPP on Tuesday started a series of media engagements aimed at highlighting what it considers to be the ills of the current administration.
NPP Director of Communications Nana Akomea told Joy News the first media briefing focused on the recent 3.6million Ghana cedis bus branding scandal that resulted in the resignation of Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor because it borders on the competency or otherwise of the John Mahama government.
“We are starting this programme of bringing issues that raises critical questions that have not been fully addressed but that continue to weigh on the minds of Ghanaians,” Nana Akomea said.
He blamed the closure of about three Intensive Care Units of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on government’s failure to provide essential funds to run the facility.
“These are issues that all of us have to engage ourselves in. We are really going to put the records out there,” he adds.
NPP’s media campaign is reminiscent of the “Setting the Records Straight” programme by the NDC in the round-up to the 2008 elections.
The NDC – then in opposition – used that programme to criticize the then NPP administration’s policies, and subsequently used it to promote and highlight achievements of government when the NDC came to power.
