NPP goes Red today over office raid

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has decided to wear red and black today to register their protest over the raid on the party’s headquarters last Monday morning.

A statement signed by Mr Perry Okudzeto, a Deputy Director of Communications of the party, encouraged its members, sympathisers, executive members, Members of Parliament and the leadership of the party to gather at its Asylum Down headquarters in Accra to speak out on the matter.

The New Patriotic Party will gather at the party headquarters to speak to the dawn raid by what the party calls “enemies of democracy under the worrying guise of the state.”

“In this regard, we call upon all Ghanaians who believe in and want to protect our democracy to express their outrage boldly by joining in marking #RedFriday by wearing red or black with red armbands. An attack on the opposition is an attack on democracy. Show solidarity. Wear #RedFriday,” it added.

Eleven people arrested in connection with the raid have since been charged in court and granted bail.
