‘’Northern region has not experience any rainfall’’

The president of seed producers association of Ghana (SEEDPEG) Mr. Patrick Appollah has reported to Rite news that, despite the continue rainfall in the Southern sector of Ghana, Northern Region has not yet experienced any rainfall.

He said this has occurred in the northern sectors of Ghana precisely Upper East, Upper West and the Northern Region adding that farmers have not yet started cultivating crops in the beginning of this major season of farming.

Mr. Appollah has predicted that, this will affect food production and it will lead to hunger especially in the Northern p0art of Ghana.

According to him, farmers should have begun cultivating crops like maize and cassava and the likes but it is unfortunate that they have not experienced any rainfall to spearhead any cultivation.

Mr. Appollah said though, there are some irrigation facilities in some part of the region most of them are used in vegetable production than any other crop.
