Deputy Minister of Agric in charge of crop, hon Alhassan Yakubu has said that there is no bad blood between crop and livestock production in Agogo as many would want to perceive.
According to hon Yakubu he will not accept the perception that there is conflict between livestock and crop production as long as the ministry of agriculture is concerned.
According to the deputy minister, the Fulani herdsmen bring their animals to feed on farms of farmers and pose problems to their crop production system. He noted that what is happening between Fulani herdsmen and local farmers is more of a security problem than agric.
He said they are not happy about what is happening and so they will meet the security agencies to put in place security measures to check the Fulani threat. Mr. Yakubu further noted that what they will do as a ministry is to try and advice the authorities to monitor the entry of the Fulani men into the country at a particular entry point where they can be registered and authorized to take their animals only to a particular location.
