NFFAWAG cannot organize farmer’s day-GNAFF

The president for Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) Rev. Kojo Asante in the Ashanti Region has revealed that, the National Farmers and fishermen Awards Winners Association of Ghana (NFFAWAG) is not resourceful and experience enough to organize the National Farmers Day.

According to him, NFFAWAG is not a solid organization and does not have a chairman let alone an office to organize their meetings therefore, they are not eligible to organize the ‘National Farmers Day’ as they are insisting. He said this yesterday on ‘’Akuafo Si Sen’’ a segment on Rite FM’s morning Ride during an interview with Owuraku Asamoah the host.

Reacting to this issue, the 2014 National Best Farmer who is also a member of NFFAWAG Mr. George Asamoah Amankwah stated that, organizing the farmers day is not their main core but just one of their proposals their looking forward to with improving the farmers’ day celebration.

He noted that, these are some of their reasons why they dissolved the previous executives and inaugurated executives of the interim committee to manage the affairs of the association which is chaired by Mr. Davis Narh Korboe to make them strong as an organization to work on these goals.

He lamented that, last year’s farmers day was poorly organized as compared to previous years.

Mr. Asamoah Amankwa stated that, he left Takoradi in the Western Region at 8:00 to Sefwi-Waiso to witness last year’s famers’ day only to be called as an awardee in the programme without any prior notice.

He observed that during the programme, farmers were not treated well at all. “We sat under the scorching sun for hours”

According to him, this and other reasons has gingered NFFAWAG to want to organize the Framers’ Day to avoid situations where farmers get stranded during such occasions” he chastised.
