Nduom: Ghanaians are ‘gullible’

Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has charged Ghanaians to demand from politicians workable plans in the run-up to the November polls in order not to be disappointed after the elections.

Speaking at a forum organised by students of the Islamic University College in Accra, Dr. Nduom said Ghanaians have been gullible over the years and must vote for feasible ideas in this year’s polls.

“We Ghanaians have become very gullible. If somebody comes and says, ‘I am going to do a wonderful highway from Accra through Jasikan and all the way, Eastern corridor road all the way past Yendi,’ then everybody claps and says: ‘This is wonderful,’ then we go and vote,” he stated.

“JJ Rawlings said it, Kufour said it, Atta Mills said it, Mahama has said it. We listen to those things and we clap and dance and go and vote. Will they not keep doing it? They will. But if somebody comes and says: ‘I will build an airport in Elmina in two years,’ we say: ‘Don’t mind this man; we will vote against him.’”

Dr. Nduom also reaffirmed his commitment to fighting corruption by appointing an independent prosecutor when given the nod as president.

He continued: “If by some chance Papa Kwesi Nduom becomes president of the Republic of Ghana come January 2017, one of the first things that I will do is, we will go all the way back to January 1993 and we will find an independent prosecutor. And we will find other people to join that prosecutor and they will examine all the administrations from January 1993 until December of 2016.

“If anybody has done anything, taken our money, stolen our money, messed up our assets…that individual will pay. If they will not pay in cash, they will pay with their liberty,” he said.
