NDC has no committee to create jobs – Kofi Adams

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied that the party has set up a committee to create jobs for its members.

The NDC’s National Organizer, Kofi Adams said: “I don’t know where this is coming from. How are we establishing a committee to create jobs for NDC members?”

He insisted that “there is nowhere in those committees that the mandate is to go and create jobs for NDC…we never inaugurated any such committee.”

The NDC has inaugurated a number of committees to help the party implement its manifesto promises to aid the development of the nation.

They are the political committee, election committee, economic committee, social services committee, communication committee, disciplinary committee, complaints committee, the legal committee and the business development committee.

But the NDC claims there is no existence of a business development committee which was announced by the national Chairman of the party on Wednesday.

The chairman, Kofi Porturphy at the inauguration of some the committees said business development committee was set up to create jobs in the private and public sector for members.

Kofi Adams on Eyewitness News expressed shock at the news saying, “I am surprised at this twists and turns; however, the national chairman of the party in addressing the gathering today talked about the need to develop programmes and to make sure that employment generation is key in all that we do and that as social democratic party, business development desk is one such desk he as a chairman was going to see that it’s created.”

“So where lies this story about creating a committee just to create jobs for NDC members?” he fumed.

He disclosed that the “business development desk” was the campaign message of the party chairman and since he got elected, “he has insisted that one of the things that we must do as an executive is to look at that.”

Kofi Adams nonetheless stated that developing a committee that will see to job creation is a “good initiative.”

According to him, NDC members are equally Ghanaian and deserve to be provided with jobs.

He asked, “are those people not Ghanaians for us to encourage your people to create businesses to employ people?”

“At the end of the day, if members of our party are encouraged and supported by the party to create businesses and to create such opportunities, is it not for the betterment of this country? Why shouldn’t we do it? We will do it any day!”
