NDC flays media over Betty Mould’s comment

The Ashanti Regional office of the ruling National Democratic Congress, has given the strongest indication that media reports suggesting derogatory comments made by the party’s National Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, is just to cause disaffection for her.

The party said it remains resolute that some media outlets in the region skew their reportage towards the NPP, which they believe is a source of worry for them.

Deputy Regional NDC Secretary, Kwame Zu speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast with Prince Minkah reiterated that Mould-Iddrisu’s comments were taken out of context and that is aimed at discrediting the party.

The former Attorney General is reported to have said at a party function in Kumasi that, “she regrets being an Asante”, owing to how the media in the region reports on events and activities of the Mahama-led administration.

The Party has also issued an official statement to this effect and here is a copy of it.

REPORTAGE ON MADAM BETTY MOULD IDDRISU

The Ashanti regional branch of the NDC condemns unequivocally the malicious story being peddled under the headline ‘I’m sad I am Ashanti – Madam Betty’ and circulated by a lot of media houses.

This deliberate attempt by our detractors to take the shine out of a successful 3 day seminar under her abled chairmanship will not wash as Madam Betty has over the years demonstrated her pride in her Kwabre lineage.

It beats our imagination that the report has been skewed to suit the whims of people who have an agenda and we will like to put on record our disappointment at the manner in which the audio was disjointly put together to create this very sad impression about this noble woman.

Indeed Madam Betty maintained in her speech that the ordinary Ghanaian appreciates the developmental projects being undertaken by the president but when you listen to a section of the media in the region, it makes you sad as an Ashanti that there seem to be a clear agenda to deceive the gullible by consistently painting the government black.

This is the crust of the matter and this is what is on record to have been said by Madam Betty Mould.

We are therefore appalled by what this same section of the media in who Madam Betty expressed disappointment are trying desperately to twist the facts and set an agenda as has become their stock in trade.

We would have thought that section of the media would take a cue from Madam Betty Mould’s statement and purge itself of such mischief because that is not professionalism and that we believe is against the code of ethics governing the profession.

The Ashanti regional branch of the NDC is disappointed in such reportage and therefore admonish media houses to report the event as it is and not misrepresent facts.

Facts are sacred and at no point in her speech did Madam Betty say she was sad she is Ashanti.

The discerning public is advised to disregard the report and continue to support the president and the NDC to deliver on its promises to the good people of Ghana.

Our detractors are at work but the NDC will not be distracted as we march to victory in 2016.

NDC EYE ZU! EYE ZA

Signed

Zu Kwame
Deputy Secretary, A/R NDC
